Privacy Policy

Introduction

#islam is an Islamic companion from Hashtag Holdings Inc. It provides prayer times and athan alerts, Quran reading (including mushaf and ayah views), Qibla direction, duas, and related tools on mobile and on the web. This policy explains what information we use and why.

Information we collect

Location

• Precise or approximate location may be used to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction for where you are.
• On the website, location is only used if you choose “Use my location.” You can keep using default city times (for example Makkah) without granting location.
• Location is used for prayer and Qibla features — not for advertising.

Device and notifications

• Device identifiers may be used to deliver prayer-time push notifications on mobile.
• Notification delivery may use platform services (for example Expo / Apple / Google push infrastructure).

Preferences and settings

• Calculation method, madhab / Asr method, athan sounds, mute settings, theme, Quran reading mode (ayah / mushaf), script preference (Hafs / IndoPak), font size, and similar options.
• These are stored primarily on your device (and in the browser for website preferences such as theme).

Usage data

• We may collect limited product-interaction analytics (for example which features are used) to improve reliability and the experience. This is not used to sell ads.

How we use information

• Calculate prayer times and show countdowns
• Provide Qibla direction
• Send optional prayer reminders
• Remember your reading and app preferences
• Serve Quran, mushaf layout, translations, and duas
• Diagnose issues and improve the product

Storage and security

• Core preferences and location settings are designed to stay on your device whenever possible.
• We do not sell personal information or use your data for third-party advertising networks.
• Uninstalling the app removes locally stored app data. Clearing site data removes website preferences stored in your browser.

Third-party services

• Prayer times: Aladhan API may receive coordinates (or city data) to return timings. No account profile is required for this.
• Quran content: Translation and related Quran data may be sourced from providers such as Quran.com. Content is often cached so reading can work offline in the app.
• Notifications: Push delivery uses the OS and notification providers you already trust on your phone.
• Hosting / CDN: The website may be served through our hosting provider and Cloudflare for performance and security. They process standard request logs (IP, user agent) as part of operating the site.

Your choices

• Deny or revoke location permission anytime in system settings
• Control prayer notifications per prayer or turn them all off
• Reset app data or uninstall to remove local storage
• On the web, decline location prompts and clear site data as needed

Children

#islam is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information that should be removed.

International users

The app and website are available worldwide. By using them, you understand that processing described here may occur in countries where we or our service providers operate.

Legal notes (GDPR / CCPA)

• EU: We process data as needed to provide prayer, Quran, and Qibla features (legitimate interest / contract to provide the service) and with your permission where required (for example precise location).
• California: We do not sell personal information. Categories we may process include location, identifiers, and usage/preference data for app functionality and product improvement.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
